MCA World 2025 – Alternative Fuel Use in the Cement Sector Panel

The cement industry is placing increasing importance on alternative fuel usage to meet its energy needs and reduce environmental impact in line with sustainable production goals.

In 2023, the Turkish cement sector used 1.8 million tons of waste, obtaining approximately 12% of its energy needs from alternative fuels. During the same period, 6.2 million tons of alternative raw materials were utilized across the industry. These figures clearly demonstrate the sector's commitment to environmentally friendly production and circular economy principles.

One of the most significant investments in energy efficiency within the industry is Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) systems. According to the latest data, Turkey currently has 26 WHR units across 17 factories, generating a total capacity of 154.5 megawatts. This capacity is equivalent to supplying electricity to approximately 618,000 households, meeting the daily electricity needs of 2.5 million people.

As part of MCA World 2025, the "Alternative Fuel Use and Investments in Cement Production" Panel will explore these innovative approaches and sustainability goals. The panel will bring together experts to discuss key topics such as energy efficiency, alternative fuel adoption, and reducing environmental impact.

This essential panel will serve as a roadmap for investments supporting the transition to green energy in the cement industry and future sustainability strategies. We invite you to be part of this valuable discussion.
